A devoted Muslim, Maulvi Muhammad Ali was intensely interested in peace and tolerance of other religions. It is in this spirit that Muhammad and Christ was written. Noting that Islam forbids the denigration of a prophet, the author presents a sympathetic portrayal of Jesus. From the perspective of a Muslim believer some of the main issues of Christianity that are frequently misunderstood by Muslims are addressed. Specifically, the miracles attributed to Jesus, such as healing the sick and raising the dead, the concept of sinlessness, the circumstances surrounding his birth, call, and death, and the idea of a second coming are all discussed with an eye toward the teaching of the Quran. In our world, where attempts at sympathetic religious teaching are so desperately needed, Maulvi Muhammad Ali’s attempt to bring understanding between Muslims and Christians is still sorely needed. It is a volume that should be on the “must read” list of anyone who is concerned with the state of affairs in the political world today.

Maulvi Muhammad Ali (1875-1951) was a highly acclaimed Arabic scholar, most famous for his translation of the Holy Quran. He had attained an M.A. and an LL.B. and was president of the Ahmadiyya Anjuman-i-Ishaat-i-Islam Lahore, India.
