Sinope, a settlement along the Black Sea, was a Greek colony of Miletus important for its location at the Northeastern margins of the Greek 'empire' and its role as a trading hub between the Mediterranean, Scythia, and Persia. It was most famous as the capital of Mithradates Eupator's Pontic kingdom, which fell to Rome in 70 BC. Robinson offers transcripts, editions, translations and commentaries on inscriptions surviving from the important site at the border between East and West.
