2008 Summer Internships
Gorgias Press LLC, an academic publishing house based in Piscataway NJ, is seeking to fill a number of nonpaid full-time summer internships. Top performers will earn a bonus of up to $1,000. The positions open in the second half of May and run throughout the summer (we are flexible with start and end dates). Candidates interested in applying can send a resume jobs@gorgiaspress.com.
.NET C# Programmer (2 Positions):
Candidates must have very strong programming skills, and must be proficient in the following:
- Programming: Microsoft Visual Studio, C# and the .NET framework, SQL, and ODBC backend to applications, and ability to program from scratch (not just edit existing code)
- Documentation: Writing skills to document programs and user manuals.
- HTML and web design, graphics and imaging.
Programming responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the design and implementation of database applications, writing C# libraries for use by third parties, .NET web and user controls, and documenting code and user manuals. We will be implementing a book reader and a book cover design application, amongst other things. Candidates must be proactive, hard-working, dedicated and detail oriented. Technical Imaging Editor (4 Positions):
Candidates must have a very strong technical background and must be proficient in the following:
- Adobe Photoshop (cleaning up scans, creating covers, running batch jobs)
- Adobe Acrobat Professional (creating PDF's out of word and image files)
- Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel (Publisher is a plus).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scanning documents, performing image enhancements on scanned images using Photoshop and other programs, design book covers, uploading books to printers using FTP, and similar tasks. Multi-tasking is a must as candidates are expected to be executing multiple projects at the same time. Candidates must be proactive, hard-working, dedicated and detail oriented. Marketing Assistant (2 Positions):
Candidates must have some experience in marketing. An academic background in a subject area of Gorgias Press publications (see category listing on the home page) is a plus. Candidates should have a technical background and be proficient in the following:
- Microsoft Office Products including Word, Publisher, and Excel
- Excellent communication skills
