This program helps publishers increase their revenue by bringing back into active circulation their out-of-print backlist. Gorgias Press has successfully established a niche in the digital reprint market and is pleased to share it with other academic publishers. When specialized academic books go out-of-print, it is financially not feasible for an academic publisher to reissue a reprint. While print-on-demand (POD) technology offers a viable solution, an academic press may not have the infrastructure or the time to carry out the enormous task involved in reprinting an entire backlist in a streamlined, cost-effective manner. We understand that publishers need to concentrate on producing new titles. You can simply offload your republishing program to Gorgias Press.

THE GORGIAS OUT-OF-PRINT REPUBLISHING PROGRAM™ offers a wide range of services, in effect becoming a POD-service provider. These services include book acquisition, prepress, manufacturing, marketing and distribution, essentially making the process seamless to the publisher. Using state-of-the-art and in-house proprietary software technologies (our president is a computer scientist!), Gorgias Press has put in place processes that enables it to bring an out-of-print backlist back into active circulation in a cost-effective short period of time, without compromising the high quality expected by academic presses.

THE GORGIAS OUT-OF-PRINT REPUBLISHING PROGRAM™ consists of a wide range of services. To help you meet your specific needs, you can choose one or more of these services.

• Acquisitions Services. In cases when the publisher does not have an electronic file or a printed copy of a particular title, Gorgias Press will search for the book through various antiquarian and library channels to secure a copy.
• Prepress Services. Having secured a copy of the title, prepress services will digitize the book. But more importantly (and here is where most of the effort goes), the Gorgias Prepress team will use state-of-the-art and proprietary software technologies to ‘cleanup’ the scans, resulting in an exact replica of the original—sometimes a better copy. Each page is manually inspected by a specialist and goes through a rigorous quality assurance process. Illustrations are digitally enhanced for giving better results. Our team generates a PDF file that is print-ready and approved by the printer.
• Manufacturing Services. Having a print-ready PDF file at hand, our manufacturing partners produce professionally bound books printed on industry standard, acid-free paper and bound in stamped cloth (dustjacket optional), case, or paperback formats. Our team inspects each page of every book after it is produced by the printer to ensure quality of content and of the physical book. We will be happy to send you sample books for your inspection.
• Marketing, Sales and Distribution Services. Through various national and international distribution partners (see ‘Our Partners’ list), your books will be available through a wide range of distribution channels, both brick-and-mortar and online. We also work with various library services to make your book available to as many libraries as possible. If you opt for our sales services, our team will take care of order processing and fulfillment for you.
