In the wake of the First Vatican Council, a number works appeared from eastern Catholics on the subject of the primacy of Peter and his successors. In this volume, Clemens Joseph David (1829-1890), a prominent scholar of the Syriac Catholic Church and Archbishop of Damascus, studies the subject. The work is tightly arranged, with an outline of the contents given at the beginning of the book, and much of the work is given in question and answer format.
