Gregory Bar Hebraeus is one of the most well known and influential authors of the late Syriac tradition. His many works cover a wide array of topics, from philosophy and theology to history and biblical studies. The present volume contains an English translation of his Book of the Dove, which is a book of instruction for those who chose to pursue the ascetic life. This volume also includes an English translation of the opening chapters of Bar Hebraeus’s Ethikon, which also deal with topics pertaining to the ascetic life.
