In the present article, Sebastian Euringer presents a German translation of three Ethiopic poetic texts previously published by A. Dillmann. The three texts are the Effigies Mariae, Salâm ad Mariam, and Gloria tibi. Euringer’s introduction includes a bibliography of previous research and an extensive discussion of the distinctive features of these texts. Euringer supplements his translation with extensive critical notes, including commentary and discussion of translation decisions. Originally published in three parts, the entire article is published here as one text.
