This particular text focuses on the role of the Virgin Mary in the Life of Christ and is intended for use both at school with a teacher and at home with parents. Events in the Gospels which are retold here for children include the Annunciation, Mary’s visit to Elizabeth, the dream of Joseph, the Nativity, the Flight to Egypt, the Presentation in the Temple, the Visitation of the Magi, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. Pictures are included whose audience is both adults and children and which are also suitable for coloring. The text also contains prayers in Syriac and in Arabic which have been taken from the Syrian Orthodox liturgy and one of the aims of the text is to encourage children to memorize these parts of the church service. This book is ideal for parents seeking Christian instructional materials for their children in Arabic and can also be a very useful introduction to Christian Arabic and the Syriac liturgy for students of Middle Eastern Christianity.
