This volume contains the Syriac version, with English translation and copious literary and historical notes, of Eusebius’s small book on the martyrs of Palestine, edited from a Syriac manuscript dated to 411.

This volume contains William Cureton’s English translation of Eusebius of Caesarea’s History of the Martyrs in Palestine.

This volume contains the last part of John of Ephesus’ (c. 507-c. 588) Ecclesiastical History in Syriac, covering the years 571-585. An introduction (in English) touches on the manuscript and the style and content of the work.

Cureton’s book was first begun as early as 1848 on the basis of manuscripts in the collection of the British Museum. It furnished nineteenth-century students of Syriac Christianity with a wealth of new resources and continues to be just as valuable for students today.

Working from a composite manuscript obtained in 1842 from the Syrian monastery of St. Mary Deipara, Cureton reconstructed the fragmentary remnants of what he identified as a fifth-century manuscript of the four canonical Gospels.
